You\u2019re picked up by the author\u2019s whimsical tone on page 1 and gently put down a book later. The halfness of the title refers to the fact that to save her live, the heroine\u2019s legs are replaced by trees. It makes perfect sense in the context of the story. With perfect plot logic, she learns not to stand around too long on damp ground in case she starts putting down roots \u2026 In fact, the whole plot is utterly logical, for a given brand of logic that is described as it goes.
